phrase of the week

Dogs are hairy. Therefore, they shed. Check out what Shaun did to our furry Baxter. I'm having mixed feelings about it. His fluff ball appearance is so lovable. Then again, having his hair everywhere is gross and annoying.

BEFORE

Notice the way Max can hold on to his fluffy mane.

AFTER

Seriously? He looks like a sick cat or something. It's worse in person. He looks like he lost 40 pounds. Not to mention totally emasculated. You can tell he's not fond of his new hair due.
Even the tail. That nice bushy tail. gone.
Shaun also shaved Boston. He looks fine. He's stocky with thick muscle, and had short hair anyway.
Poor Baxter. The good thing for him is now Max can't get a nice fist full of hair and pull. Which he likes to do.
His hair will grow back, so for now, I will enjoy the lack of hair everywhere. Then he can be our fluff ball again, and then, when we're sick of hair, he'll be shaved again.
We came up with a nickname for Baxter's new alter-ego, Mr. bigglesworth. That's what Shaun's been calling him because I told him he looks like a sick cat. So he thought of the cat from Austin Powers.
So, the phrase of the week is...... Mr. bigglesworth. My poor Mr. bigglesworth. I think I need to come up with a new nickname. How humiliating for a dog to be nicknamed after a cat!
Any suggestions for a nickname? ;)

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Find out what it means to Baxter. Ever since my two dogs were puppies, Boston has been a pig with his food, and Baxter wants to take his time. If Baxter had his way he would like his food in a bowl left out all day. Then he could eat it when he pleased. But he lives with Boston. Who scarfs down his food. Then he tries to eat Baxter's food. It's been the same way since they were puppies. Boston wants to eat and eat, then eat some more.
So my little spiteful Baxter, will sit and wait until Boston is done scarfing his food. Which doesn't take long. Then Baxter likes to taunt Boston with the food. He'll stand by his food and keep eyeballing Boston. Then when he fells like Boston is getting to close or looking at him, He'll growl.
We were talking to a golden retriever rescue group. We told them about the conflict every morning and night with feeding our beasts. Which over the 5 years we've had them has caused about 2 nasty fights. Which both times I had to break up because Shaun wasn't home. I was so mad at them! They new it and would try to suck up to me. Still being on edge with each other. They said that Golden Retrievers want respect. It's a respect thing for them. Baxter feels that Boston is not respecting him. So the game plays on..............

Baxter growling at Boston for looking at him

Boston trying not to look at him

Boston trying to have a cool face. Acting like he doesn't want Baxter's food.

I've found myself many times talking to them like 2 fighting kids. "Baxter, stop taunting Boston!" "Boston, stop looking at Baxter!" "Baxter just eat your food!" "Boston, sit over here (away from Baxter) and lie down!" Seriously these two?! They're like 2 fighting brothers! They only do this kind of thing with each other. They have never done this with Shaun, Max, or myself. They are the sweetest dogs with Max. They are only funny about the food with each other.
You're probably saying I should just feed them separate. I'll tell you why I don't. Boston will eat his food just fine. Baxter won't eat unless he has Boston to taunt. He wants to make Boston respect him, and Boston just want to eat everything. That's what you get with two male dogs.

Boston running in to pick up any left overs.

Of course, Baxter has no problem doing the same thing to Max. ;)

Max's old ride

My brother was borrowing Max's old car seat. When he brought it back to us, Max thought it was pretty fun to play with. I left it in the living room all day so he could have fun playing with it.

Did I really fit in there mom?

Also, about the shorts Max has on. I guess because he's thinning out they tend to hang down low on his bum. The more he plays and moves around the more they tend to slide down his bum. It's pretty funny.
Max is going gangsta style. As long as he doesn't start rapping. He could rap about his two D-O- double GGizzles in the Heezee. What? yo, yo, yo. Please no, no, no.
I do know that my golden retriever Baxter is quite gangsta. My little baby face cat and chicken killer. Baxter's just keeping it real. He is a true D-O double G. Feel free to add the izzle to that. :)

People let me tell you about my best friends

Max loves his dogs. It's really cute to see them together. They are sure to become his best friends. You'll see by the pictures that they have some great friend qualities.

getting to know Baxter

Getting to know Boston

helping to rock max in his cradle

Max can lean on them. They've got his back.
(seriously?! Max is huge in this picture! FUNNY! I love my BIG boy! Shaun thinks he looks like Voldermort. Naughty Daddy! You can't call him Voldermort, or mini me from the Austin Powers movie. haha!)

Helping to get dressed

being protective

They share secrets. "What's that Boston?"
They were probably planning this below

Come on Max! you can reach a little higher and turn the door knob. Then we're outta here.

They also let me know that they don't like it when Max cries. Whenever Max is crying really hard. The dogs start to whine and howl! It's really adorable. They get all restless and upset. The more Max cries the louder they whine and howl. It's really funny! I've wanted to catch it on video but I'm busy trying to help Max with whatever it is making him cry so hard.

Phrase of the week

Why did the chicken cross the road? In my case, It's why did the chicken have to cross into my back yard? Do you see where I'm going with this? Let me help you. The phrase of the week is, The baby face killer. That's right, My sweet baby face Golden Retriever Baxter strikes again. He has earned his nickname.....again.
He killed a cat once in our backyard. So Shaun and I gave him the nickname of baby face killer. You would think this kind of behavior would come from my Lab Boston. No! It's my sweet looking fluff ball Baxter. Who loves anybody and everybody. Loyal to all that will pet him.

I was horrified to find Baxter in the back yard with my neighbors chicken in his mouth. Running around the yard. So proud of himself. Tail wagging at it's fastest. Then me with my mouth opened wide and my eyes probably opened even wider. Horrified!!
I had to go tell my neighbor that one of the chicken's got out and made it into our backyard. The arena of death. If you're a chicken or cat. I felt SO bad!!! Poor chicken never had a chance. My neighbor was really nice about it. I told her it was a black one. She said she hoped it was Darth Vader! haha! What a fun name for a chicken. Because Darth Vader doesn't give her eggs. I guess Darth Vader couldn't with stand "the force" aka....Baxter.
Boston probably could care less about it and would leave it alone. Baxter on the other hand wants to play. It's not like he rips it up or anything. He just kills it and runs around the yard with it in his mouth. Like a trophy. Gross!!

Maybe, He's been watching this other Golden Retriever and wanted to make us something special for dinner?

Maybe the Chick-fil-A cow would be proud of Baxter. I on the other hand, Am horrified.

Good or bad dogs?

Shaun and I received a plate of cookies from our friends. They were Delicious. At least the 3 of the ones I ate. ( They were only bite sized.)

I resisted eating the whole plate of yummy goodness. Because I'm doing the biggest loser contest. I'm trying not to over indulge.

The next day. I went out to the store. When I came home. All that was left was the plate and Saran wrap. The plate was completely wiped clean, Or licked clean. I had mistakenly left the plate too close to the edge of the table. My two canine beasts, couldn't resist the yummy goodness. Because they know that this is bad to do. I had to punish them and kick them outside. Or put them in, What we call the "penalty box" Which is Shaun's office. I'm sure they have no idea why I was yelling and stomping them out the door, While waving this plate up and down in my hand.

What do you think? Are they good dogs for doing this? Or are they bad dogs? I think their both.
