Cigarettes vs. Alcohol

I'm curious. Why is it that cigarettes get targeted for bad, And alcohol campaigned for good? Don't get me wrong. I cannot stand cigarette smoke! I think it's disgusting.
My question is this, Do cigarettes make you abuse your spouse or children? Do cigarettes make you drive drunk and kill other people? Do cigarettes impair your judgement and make you wake up the next morning and wonder what you did last night? Or who?
How much violence happens because of alcohol? How much violence happens because of cigarettes? Do you see my point?
Don't get me wrong. I'm happy that you can't smoke anymore in public places. Very happy! Whenever I get the faintest whiff of cigarette smoke I want to gag.
I just think alcohol can be so much worse. Can you imagine a commercial for cigarettes being like the famous commercials for alcohol? Why does one seem to be more accepted?
For example, You can't smoke on an airplane (thank goodness) But you can drink and become completely obnoxious, Annoying everyone around you.
Some people seem to not be able to handle their alcohol very well. So they not only hurt themselves, They hurt others and make complete fools of themselves. Cigarettes don't turn you into a complete idiot.
