Phrase of the week

This is Max's swim/summer hair. Because he's so fair. I rub sunscreen all over his head. It's like a strong gel. It makes his hair stick straight up. I love it.
We call him...........

Billy Idol

Whenever Shaun sees Max with this hair due. He'll sing, (with the added 80's fist pump) "with a rebel yell, she cried more, more, more." OR, "It's a nice day for a white wedding."

The phrase of the week, or phrase of the summer, are these two Billy Idol songs, OR swim/summer hair. Whenever I put sunscreen in Max's hair. Those two songs come into my head. With the added 80's fist pump and all. Thanks Shaun (sarcastically) ;)

I hope Billy is NO idol for Max.

Hard to say goodbye

It was 114 degrees here in Arizona the other day. I finally decided to clean out my flower boxes. I was trying to hold on to them as long as possible. I'm not going to clean them out completely. I'm still holding on to the survivors.
I'm still decided what to fill them with through the summer. Any ideas? I'll have to go to home depot and see what I could fill them with for the summer. I really love them. I didn't know it was going to feel so rewarding to water them and watch them grow and bloom. I love the sound of the water splashing the leaves, and the sound of drops dripping off the leaves.

This one was hit the hardest.

This one is still holding on pretty well.

On an exciting note. The bushes are blooming. I adore them. They really are beautiful. They're much better in real life then in this photo. The blue flowers really pop.
I love you flowers.

Max walks

Max is walking! He still prefers the crawl when he wants to get to something fast. He's a very fast crawler.
I still have to get a picture of his crab crawl. That's what I've been calling it. He does this funny crawl where his left leg is in normal crawling mode on his knee, but with his right leg he puts his foot flat to the ground. It looks so funny! Especially when he's trying to go really fast. I must get video of this.

Of course, his walking wouldn't pass a sobriety test. He is getting better everyday! It's so fun to see him walking. I love to see the concentration on his face, and the look he gives me to get my approval for what a good job he's doing.

People have said to me, "wait until he walks, he'll be into everything." I don't know how he can get into everything anymore then he already does. Hurricane Maxwell makes it's way through my house on a daily basis. Multiple times a day. I'm sure he'll find some new places to mess up.

I can't seem to download the video of Max walking. You'll have to take my word for it. :)

Girls just want to have fun

My friend watched Max today so I could go to the doctor.....in peace. She has 4 girls. Max was the perfect victim. Time for dress up.

think Mulan
Who is that girl I see

You're cute, how about a kiss

He even got into her toilet paper.

I figure this is how he tried to get back at the girls. Because girls always need lots of toilet paper. ;)

Thanks Whitney for the great pictures! and for taking care of Max. He had a great time playing with the girls.

Father's Day

We've got a great daddy at our house. Max loves his daddy and I love the daddy! Even our 2 furry adopted "kids" got in on the Father's Day love. ;) When you've got a hard time having kids. You add the furry ones. :) I had to do it. It's fun and silly.

I had to cut off all the mushy gushy stuff I wrote to the left of the card. You're welcome.

We ARE lucky!!

Getting my mean on

This sweet looking boy can be naughty. I know, It's hard to believe. I guess naughty is a harsh word. He's just being a little boy testing his boundaries. In an effort to make sure that he knows certain things are not o.k. to do. I've found that Max doesn't take me serious. My doctor told me that at one you should start giving time outs for 1 minute.
I've been doing this. Max thinks it's funny. When I look at him with a very serious face and a serious tone of voice. He laughs! That's right, he thinks I'm being funny. Or he doesn't listen to me and keeps doing what he's not supposed to be doing. With somethings, he'll do it even more.
It doesn't help that the daddy will laugh because Max being defiant is really quite funny. He has a really funny smirk. I think we're in trouble with this kid. Then if the daddy laughs, I do too. It's hard not to. Max is so funny.
So in an effort to get him to take me more serious. I'm trying to get, as my brother puts it, my mean on.
Let me know what you think.

This is my serious, I mean business look now. The crazed eyes as if to say, "no you didn't." and the tight lip. I can see why Max thinks I look funny! I need a better look.

How about this? Do I look mad enough? Will he take me more serious?

What about this? The cold sidewards stare. With an added finger point.

What about this look? I added a little growl to my lips.
This maybe a new sexy look for me. I'll try this out on Shaun later. ;)

I think I've got a winner. Are you ready for this look? It's really scary. I look at it and I get scared. Beware! It's really scary.

If looks could kill. I think we would all be dead for viewing this photo. I might have to hold this one for when Max grows bigger then me. Then he'll still know that I'm the mom, a.k.a the boss.

Here I am. back to normal. I don't want you to be scared anymore. :)

Toy Story 3

Shaun and I went to Toy Story 3 on Saturday. We LOVED it! I mean LOVE! It was so cute, cleaver, and funny! Shaun and I were laughing through the whole movie. Except, at the part when they showed video of Andy and him growing up. I started to get so emotional and cry. Thinking of my little Max growing up. I just love that little guy!
You must go see this movie. Right now. Just go right now. :)
I also love the song for Toy Story, You've got a friend in me. So adorable. This is defiantly a must see movie.

Terrible Thirties?

Max has started to throw a fit when I tell him no. It's almost laughable. The way he has a complete meltdown over something so ridiculous.
Then I think, what does he have to be upset about? When you really think about it. They have it good. What's the "terrible twos" all about? or talking with some friends it's........the terrible threes.
Max has decided to start a little of this early. Why? I don't get it. He has it so good.
Whenever he wakes up. I have to wake up and be there to comfort, soothe, and sweetly say, "How did you sleep sweet boy?".
He gets someone to make his meals, clean him, dress him, love him. We do most things on his time schedule. He has me to read to him, sing to him, fuss over him, AND he gets to go down for a 3 hour nap!
I carry him around, I play with him, I do so much for him. He practically has his very own maid/butler. So what's with all the fuss.

So as a joke of course. I decided that I should be able to go through the "terrible thirties." haha!
That way, when I have a complete meltdown. I can just say, "I'm going through the "terrible thirties." and everyone will nod there head in sympathy.
Then once you hit the forties. It's midlife crisis time.
Then when you're in the fifties. You can wish you were back in your thirties.
Then when you're in the sixties. The forties are looking really good.
Do you get my point?
So when you have the most power. You're too young to even remember it and really enjoy it.

All jokes aside, life is to be enjoyed, not just endured. (Gordon B. Hinckley)
enjoy the time and point you're at in your life now. You'll most likely miss it later, or discover that you really learned a lot from it and appreciate that. :)

Just so you know, If I have a fit, it's because of those "terrible thirties." If kids can get away with it then I can too. Oh wait, I'm an adult. Not the same. Dang it!

Car seat safety check

I was coming out of Wal-mart after finishing up some shopping. The greeter lady at the door told me that the fire department and police department were doing free safety car seat checks today. To the side of the building.
Great! I've been wanting to do this for a while. I want to be sure that Max's car seat was proper and safe.
I then had to disregard the fact that my car desperately needed a vacuum. There were fishy crackers, Cheerios, and who knows what else, all over the floor and car seat.
I had to think, this was about Max, not about the fact that I would have to be embarrassed by crumbs everywhere.
The fishy crackers didn't go unnoticed by the the police officers. As one of them pulled the car seat out. A bunch of fishy crackers fell to the floor. The other officer said, "hey, I wanted to save those! I'm hungry!." haha! I get it! My car could use a vacuum. ;)
I was so glad that I got the car seat checked. They checked Max in the seat when we came in and told me all the things I was doing wrong. Again, Gulp down a little bit more embarrassing juice.

This was the reason I was there. To make sure Max was safe. They then checked the car seat and made sure there were no recalls on it. Then they fixed everything right and loaded it back in the car properly. Showing me exactly how to do it all. All the while, Max was screaming in one of the officer's arms who was holding him while the other one talked to me and had me properly put in the car seat. I'm sure the officer was thrilled to be bouncing Max around and trying to get him to stop screaming. Again, It's all about Max being safe. :)
Then they gave me a booklet for future use of other car seats I could be using for Max in the future.
It feels good to know that all the things with the car seat are functioning right and that it's properly locked in the car.
I would recommend that you do this. It's nice to have a peace of mind. Hopefully, you can be prepared and vacuum out the car before you go. ;)

safety first!

Memorial day/Birthday week

I had a wonderful Birthday. It was more like a Birthday week, I was so spoiled with love all week. On the morning of my Birthday. I get a knock on my door. It was my visiting teacher with some beautiful flowers and Godiva chocolate! This was a great way to start my day! What a sweet heart! I was so excited that I just gave her a BIG hug.

Here's a picture of the flowers on my Birthday. I've been enjoying them all week. If you look close you can see that there is a lily bud that has not yet bloomed at the top.

Yesterday it bloomed! almost a week later. Beautiful! It's even more stunning in person. Thank you Sara!! I love these flowers! I also loved the Godiva chocolate! delicious. They only lasted a day.
Then we had a wonderful BBQ at my mother and father-in-laws house. It was so much fun! We had wonderful food, family, swimming, It was a great day to celebrate. Everyone had the day off because of the Memorial Day Holiday.
Then on Tuesday night my brother took me out to dinner. We had a great time and yummy food!
Then on Wednesday some sweet friends took me out to lunch. I had a great time and more yummy food!

Memorial Day/Birthday BBQ

My American boy

Max had a great time!

My brother-in-law was going to take Max and I out to eat on Friday. Max got sick on Wednesday. He had a temp. of 102. I took him to the doctor. He had an ear infection and a sore throat. He has been miserable. His canine teeth are coming in and they are terrible! The worst yet! I feel so bad for him. I've been rotating Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours with teething tablets and oragel. He's still so miserable.
Today he's doing better with the pain. Now he has a cough and a runny nose. I wish these canines would come all the way in already. They are coming in so slow. Poor little buddy.

Shaun got me a Cricut expressions machine for Mother's day/Birthday! I'm so excited for all the wonderful things I'll be able to create and do with this machine. Now if I can get Max to feel better I can really start some fun projects.
What a wonderful Birthday! I loved all the Birthday wishes, cards, and love. Thank you!

People let me tell you about my best friends

Max loves his dogs. It's really cute to see them together. They are sure to become his best friends. You'll see by the pictures that they have some great friend qualities.

getting to know Baxter

Getting to know Boston

helping to rock max in his cradle

Max can lean on them. They've got his back.
(seriously?! Max is huge in this picture! FUNNY! I love my BIG boy! Shaun thinks he looks like Voldermort. Naughty Daddy! You can't call him Voldermort, or mini me from the Austin Powers movie. haha!)

Helping to get dressed

being protective

They share secrets. "What's that Boston?"
They were probably planning this below

Come on Max! you can reach a little higher and turn the door knob. Then we're outta here.

They also let me know that they don't like it when Max cries. Whenever Max is crying really hard. The dogs start to whine and howl! It's really adorable. They get all restless and upset. The more Max cries the louder they whine and howl. It's really funny! I've wanted to catch it on video but I'm busy trying to help Max with whatever it is making him cry so hard.

flower beds/phrase of the week

Shaun put together some flower boxes to go below our front windows. I love them! It's been such a joy to water the flowers everyday. I didn't know I would enjoy doing this so much. It's so rewarding to see new flowers bloom over and over again. Sometimes it feels like a whole new planter box with the new blooms that come and go. We've had them for about 3 months now. I'm worried about them for the summer. It will be sad to see them wither from the scorching sun. *sigh*

In our front flower garden. We have these 3 bushes that bloom annually. They started to get really bushy and over grown. I have been plucking the flowers and trimming with my hands.

One day I was at the Hobby Lobby and saw these adorable flower shears. I bought them.

I'm blaming them for what I'm about to tell you. I don't know what happen. Maybe the sun was too hot. Maybe I was just so excited to use my new shears. Maybe it's because I'm not a very patient person.
I started to trim the overly grown bushes. There's 3 of them. For some reason I must have had an issue with the middle one. I started to trim and just kept cutting and cutting. Even accidentally trimming the perfectly fine areas. There was a whole lot of dead branches under neath. In my attempt to get at them I would end up cutting big chucks of bushy leaves off. It all just become a blur!
This is where the phrase of the week comes in, "the bonsai tree." I had completely butchered this poor bush. When Shaun came home he asked me, "What happen to the bush?" I threw my hands up in the air and had to hang my head in shame. "I have no idea what happened! It all happened so fast!" We both had to laugh. The bush looked ridiculous! Shaun started to call it the Bonsai tree.

I'm happy to say that the bush has recovered nicely. Thank goodness. It was looking grim for awhile.
