15 month check-up

Max was not a happy boy for his 15 month check-up on Tuesday. He would scream over everything. putting him on the scale to be weighed, trying to measure him, the doctor gently putting the stethoscope on his chest. Max was mad! I don't blame him. He has not been feeling well. This hand, foot, mouth virus has not been fun.

Dr. Jones said his rash was the worst he's seen. Yikes! I'm happy to say that today it's looking a lot better. His legs, hands, and feet are having the hardest time with it. They are looking a lot better now! It should be gone soon. :)
Despite the rash. Dr. Jones said he's really happy with the way Max is growing and looking. Really happy. Which makes me really happy. Dr. Jones always says how impressed he is with how strong Max is. He got to see this first hand while Max was bursting out of our arms and kicking and flailing to be released from the doctor touching him. Strong little guy.
To top it all off. We had to do shots. YUCK! I felt so bad for my little guy. He was NOT happy!

Here's Max showing his battle wounds. His band aids look like tattoos. ha! Looking like a tough guy with his motorcycle. Straight out of prison? Or because he's 15 months old, straight out of "time out." haha......

I sat Max on the couch while I got his lunch ready. When I came back. He was like this. All cozy with the pillow watching baby Einstein. Poor little guy did not feel good. I had to take a picture. He looked so adorable!

I'm not sure if this is really the proper stats. As Max was not cooperating when they tried to get them. I mean NOT cooperating! screaming, kicking, moving all over the place. He wanted to be in my arms and no where else. With no one touching him. He was ticked! good thing Dr. Jones is such a sweet man! With 4 kids and 1 on the way. :)

Weight- 26.4 (70%)
Height- 33 1/2 inches (over 95%)

Makes me smile plus Max's stats

For Max's birthday he got some BIG cars. (thanks Sammy) As I was going through his toy box. I found that he had an identical LITTLE car. So now, daddy and son have been reunited. ;)
Every time I see them it makes me smile. I even have to giggle a little.
The mommy car must have purple eyes and all yellow tires. ;)

Daddy car giving a piggy back ride.

Now for Max's 12 month stats:

Weight- 23 lbs 9 oz (75 percentile)
Height- 33.25 inches! (Still over the 95 percentile.) He has grown 11.75 inches this year!
Head circumference 19 (not sure what percentile this is)

Max's doctor said that he looks really good. He's a very tall healthy boy! He also talked to me about giving "time outs" now. For one minute. I've been trying this out. It's really hard not to laugh! Max has a problem with biting. I for see lots of "time outs" in his future. He looks so funny sitting in the corner. It's hard not to crack a smile or two.
He wont sit still in the corner. I have to keep putting him back in it. Then he'll look away as I'm talking to him. shifting his eyes downward. Trying not to keep eye contact so he doesn't have to listen to what I'm saying. I wish I could describe the look on his face better. It's quite comical.
Max is not walking yet. which is not a problem. He'll do it on his own time. We joke that it's because he's so tall, It's harder to fight the force of gravity. He needs more time to balance himself out. :)
Shaun says that it's because he's a guy. Why does he need to over do anything. He can get around just fine by crawling. haha!
I read on a baby website that children who walk later have a more mellow temperament. I'm thinking this is not the case with Max. It's not like he has a bad temper. He's just not a mellow kid. :) He's a mover! He crawls super fast and wants to be into anything and everything! He does NOT sit still.....ever.

9 month check-up

Max is still over the 95% for height. He only grew 1/2 an inch since his 6 month check-up. He was way over the 95% then. The doctor showed me the growing curve. The 95% has a blue line and then way above it, Is a dot for Max. :) Now his dot has gone down closer to the 95% blue line. He's so tall.
He is 75% for weight. He must be thinning out with all the moving around he does.
The doctor did inform me that Max had a slight heart murmur. He heard it when Max was first born. Then he never heard it again. Until this last appointment. He said it could be because Max was not feeling well. He had a cold. He told me that he hears these things all the time and it's really nothing to be worried about. But, Because Max is over 9 months old and the doctor heard it again. I could take him to a cardiologist. Just to make sure. Or, I could wait and see if the doctor hears it again at Max's 12 month appointment.
My doctor said he didn't want me to worry about it. Him telling me to go and see a cardiologist was more "textbook" then anything to be really concerned about. I'm not sure what I want to do about it. I really trust my doctor. If he says not to worry about it. Then I'm really not too worried about it. I think I might just go to the cardiologist just in case.
Max is now walking along furniture. He's fully mastered crawling. He tries to out crawl me when I come to get him away from whatever he's not supposed to be getting into.
It's really funny when he hears me coming and he either tries to crawl away as fast as he can. Or, He tries to squeeze onto whatever he's not supposed to be playing with and get every last amount of play time with it before I come and take it away. It's really hilarious! He'll go all spazzy on the thing.
He's also discovered how to push doors open. He tries to free the dogs out of their "penalty box" (Shaun's office) all the time. Good thing it has a latch at the top of the door. I have to lock it now.
He's also learned how to slide things out of his way. If I wanted to keep him in the living room. I would put his play pen by the chair and block him in. Then he learned how to slide his play pen over and squeeze through the opening. I know have to block the other end of the play pen so he can't slide it over.
I love watching him learn and grow. It's so fun to see him getting smarter and figuring things out. Even if it makes more work for me.

6 month check-up

My baby is a little over 6 months old and I can't believe it! He's 30 inches long (still over the 95%) and weighs 19lbs 14oz. (80%)
Because Max is so tall. Everyone we meet thinks he's older. I LOVE my TALL boy! I love everything about him.
Max and I got a little bug when we were in Utah. We thought we were rid of it. Then yesterday at his check-up. He had a ear infection in the left ear. The doctor said it wasn't too bad. He still gave us some antibiotic because Max is only 6 months old. My poor baby!
He also got 5 pokes yesterday! He got his regular vaccines. Then he also got the flu shot AND the swine flu shot. Tough day for my little guy. After the initial shots. He was fine the rest of the day.
On a side note. The day before Max's appointment the doctors office called to confirm the appointment. I cannot even tell you the feeling I get when the lady at the doctors office calls and says, "Is this Maxwell's mom?" It brings such joy to my heart to say "YES."
Maybe it wont be quite as fun if it comes from, Lets say, the police station, The principle office, or a neighbor calling to tell me what trouble Max has gotten himself into. Even then, I think my heart will always swell to say, "Yes, This is Maxwell's mom." Then I can be a mom and ground him for being naughty.;) Because if a kid never got in trouble. What kind of a boring childhood would that be?
